Information:

A Mythological RoundTable ® Group (MRT) is a gathering of people drawn together by a deep and abiding interest in all things mythological. Much like the Round Table of yore, it is a place where individual and community come together - a place to play, plan, create, partake in ritual, and share tales of our own quests with companions well met. But JCF Mythological RoundTable ® Groups do more than just enrich the individual; they also offer the opportunity to introduce the work of Joseph Campbell to the wider community, carrying his vision off the page and out into the real world.

TreeWe are a small group of people of different ages and occupations, studying mythology-related topics. Some of our focal points are: fine arts, music, movies, philosophy, storytelling, science, Eastern and Western mysticism.

The topics of our meetings usually arise from the "group spirit" of our meetings. The way the different viewpoints and ways of experience, shared on the occasion of our RoundTable meetings, merge into a continues flow of ideas can be compared best to the alchemical process. There is no fixed schedule, and no fixation on Joseph Campbell. No previous knowledge required. Mythology and symbols can be related to the whole range of human experience.

Usually we start with a brief introduction, presented by one of our members. The character of our meetings is quite informal - we appreciate a good bottle of red wine as much as a good book.

Sometimes we arrange events with guest speakers, storytelling, music, or artist conversations. We are grateful that we also had the opportunity to welcome a variety of American guest speakers, such as JCF president Robert Walter, Campbell biographers Steven and Robin Larsen, renowned children book illustrator Gerald McDermott, or ritual expert Rebecca Armstrong, among others.

The exchange with some of the best, American culture has to offer, helps us to broaden our European perspective, and to benefit intellectually, psychologically, and even physically. (Several of our members are also associated with Tai Ji master Chungliang AlHuang's Living Tao Foundation. If you're interested in practizing Tai Ji before the meeting, please contact the leader!)

Most of the time we speak German, but language barriers shouldn't be a problem.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
