Description:

This is a RARE OPPORTUNITY to study MYTH with the chair of Pacifica Graduate Institute’s Mythological Studies program (the only M.A./Ph.D. mythology degree in the world)!

This 8-day Paris Adventure includes a 5-day workshop focused on the interrelationships between mythology, writing, literature, and the arts, taking full advantage of the abundant resources of the city of Paris.

Explore such mythologies as those of the Unicorn, the Labyrinth, the Arthurian Romances, and Alchemy and enjoy excursions to sites famously associated with those myths (i.e. the Cluny Museum, the Nicholas Flamel home and neighborhood, the palaces of Fontainebleau and Luxembourg, Chartres Cathedral, and the Sylvia Beach Bookshop—Shakespeare & Co.— for a day on James Joyce’s Ulysses.)

Lans Smith

Host Evans Lansing Smith is chair of the M.A./Ph.D. Mythological Studies Program at the Pacifica Graduate Institute – home of the Joseph Campbell Archives and the only advanced degree Mythology program in the world. Smith traveled with Joseph Campbell on tours of Northern France, Egypt, and Kenya, with a focus on the Arthurian Romances and the mythologies of the Ancient World. He is a published poet, and the author of eight books and many articles on Comparative Literature and Mythology.
