the Joseph Campbell Mythology Group (JCMG) is for anyone interested in mythology, symbols, dreams, alchemy, the mythic path, the mythology being born ever anew in pop culture and everyday life... the work of Joseph Campbell, Mircea Eliade, Heinrich Zimmer, Carl Jung, James Hillman, and others. The JCMG promote intelligent, imaginative discussion, and cultural sharing. Discussions must be civil. Religious proselytizing and political discussions are considered off topic. Off topic posts will be deleted and may result in loss of posting privileges or removal from the group.
The Joseph Campbell Mythology Group enjoys fascinating discussions, serving as a convivial, intimate little cyber-salon. Members talk about all sorts of things, from mythic motifs, to movies, marketing, mother archetypes, meditation, and everything in between (what, after all, can't be tied to myth?). |

It is all in the name: "Myths-Dreams-Symbols." But the primary focus is on Dreams. The physiological act of dreaming but more so the psychological contents of our dreams. And what does the psychological contents of our dreams speak about? The life of the dreamer, with a focus on the emotions. The dream addresses the true self, unencumbered by the ego bias of the waking condition. They can assit in emotional healing when properly understood. Dreams are a conduit to the vast unconscious, personal and collective, and the stored knowledge of personal experience, and emotional experience, accumulated throughout the dreamer's life.
This site examines dream contents in the light of myth and symbols, paying special attention to the work of Carl Jung and Joseph Campbell. |
