About the event

Myth Fest 2024: Experience the Power of Myth with Pacifica Graduate Institute and the Joseph Campbell Foundation

"I think of mythology as the homeland of the muses, the inspirers of art, the inspirers of poetry. To see life as a poem and yourself participating in the poem is what the myth does for you." Joseph Campbell, The Power of Myth

Save the date for Pacifica Graduate Institute's Journey Week and our first ever Myth Fest, featuring the Joseph Campbell Foundation. Together, we will celebrate the ongoing power of myth to inspire, illuminate, and guide our lives. Myth Fest will be held on the opening day of Journey Week, Friday, September 27, 2024, from 2:00-5:00 pm at Pacifica’s Ladera campus, and is included with your Journey Week registration.

  1. Enjoy complimentary treats at the Nectar and Ambrosia table
  2. Meet working mythologists, including members of the JCF team
  3. Learn about Pacifica’s Mythological Studies program from students, teachers, and alumni
  4. Celebrate the 75th anniversary of The Hero With a Thousand Faces by Joseph Campbell
  5. Register for an optional pre-conference workshop called The Power of Mythic Writing: An Interactive Introduction, led by JCF’s MythBlast editor, Scott Neumeister
  6. Follow up your Myth Fest experience with a keynote address by John Bucher, Executive Director of the Joseph Campbell Foundation, titled The Oracle and the Algorithm: Our Search for Mythos in the Machine

We can’t wait to meet you and share our love of myth!
