So then you feel that these creations myths, the early ones which were later re-worked, were intuitive insights into the actual birth of the universe? Perhaps. There's another path which I ventured down which compares the really old creation myths of northern Africa and abroad to what know in scienc...

I completely agree that "In the beginning" isn't even supposed to mean in the literal beginning, because, of course, according the same mythology there is no beginning for God or his dwelling. So what fixed beginning are we discussing then? That was a point that came up in a recent conversation abou...

...perhaps religion is difficult to leave because it's difficult to leave behind the notion that death is not the end?

In Genesis the perspective is from looking out from the earth and describing a creation sequence. So I'm pretty sure that they meant that the earth and space were created in the beginning, and then God said "Let there be light" which fired up the milky way illumination, if we're correct about the fi...

Hey BG, I know that in the 1950's the Pope tried to link the BB to Genesis in a "Creation Ex Nihilo" sort of way. But upon closer examination the heavens and earth are created before the "light." So it's difficult to try and link the BB cosmology to Genesis, at least literally as they sought to link...

Hey Native, I don't know if you realize that I've been a member here for years or not. But here I am. I followed your suggested link @ www.booktalk.org and have browsed the thread. Instead of getting into the conflict over whether standard accepted solar symbolism is addressed to the sun or really t...

That's an interesting perspective Balu. I have a hard time seeing how any one could rightly argue that you are not following your bliss. Hell, one could argue that Hitler was following his bliss. Doors opened where there wouldn't have been doors for anyone else. The whole environment seemed to open ...

I posted ZG as an example of the astrotheology and it's concern has to do with showing how the second function (astrotheological allegory) has been literalized and used as a means of social control, the third function. Now he's right that it's BS for them to do this -to literalize second function al...

Valhall, you just reminded me of something in the MP Hall series. He mentioned that Venus is visible as a cresent, and then went on to say that the cresent of Islam is addressed to Venus. He then goes into how Friday is sacred to Islam, because of Venus. Saturday is sacred to Judaism due to El, the ...

I need go back and check at what time it's mentioned, but during PJ's summary of the solar symbolism he talked about the sun as "God's Sun" and how the sun was not itself a God, but rather a symbol for the mystery of causation, basically. So I may have misread your post but at the same time I'd like...

Hey Valhall, good to see you here. I remember you mentioned that you've been reading Campbell. And as for the two previous posts, you guys do understand what's happening in the ZG film with respect to the four functions don't you? I'll expand on it a bit if you didn't catch it at first glance. PJ is...

Hey Rimbaud. Robert really stumbled into some interesting data here when discovering how closely the solar insolation cycle follows the GY mythology.
