A Skeleton Key to Finnegans Wake

I just have to thank those in the Foundation for the reprint of the Skeleton Key. I'm at a place in my life where I'm ready for it, and it would not have been possible without this Foundation. Holding it in my hands right now is a real treasure that I had been thinking about for a very long time.

Wow, something interesting happened to me on the way to the video store back in June. I found that life had a way of robbing me of all my time, so much so that I haven't even had the opportunity to come to this online forum. Two months just flew by, and I am suprised to see this topic is still going...

Wow, I can't believe how much everybody has contributed in the last couple of days. Being short on time, I have to read through all these posts, where they are all very interesting before I offer any more response.

Overmanwarrior I think you are extrapolationg "observe" boldly where it was never meant to go. It's not observation that collapses the wavefunction, but it's more like an exchange of energy. In both cases the brain 'controls', nada. ... I would argue Where things are not meant to go is usually wher...

[ So you would appear to be saying it is the human mind that collapses the quantum wave function. What exactly in the mind is it that does the collapsing? It's in the observation that the collapse occures. All factors aside, the time out, the fear of being cut from the team, the scream of the crowd...

[ hmmn So does the entity include the carbon dioxide the shooter is exhaling, does it include the beads of sweat on the floor, does it include the flora and fauna in the gut, the foods eaten and excreted, does it include last week's toe nail clippings? Does it include the defender, the referee, the...

All this brings up the idea of what an enlightened society is. Is it a society that does not have war, but yet has a social hierarchy where everyone understands their peeking order? Is it a society where nobody acts out of self interest or aggression? Or is a society where everyone climbs into bed t...

So how certain are you of this explanation, what is the entity that has done the choosing and how is this testable? Also we need to be very careful to distinguish between the phenomena we observe at the quantum level and what the phenomena description predicts. They are two very different things. T...

On free will, what if we take the explanation from the film, What the Bleep, Down the Rabbit Hole where they explore the quantum nature of a particle. They used a basketball player to describe the multiple possible tangents of the shooter tossing the ball in the basket. In that situation, all variat...

The very fact that any religious topic would be considered offensive loses the essence of what the religion is offering. The best I can figure is that some of Sitchen’s work is true, in that he believes that aliens landed here, in the Tigris Euphrates valley, started a civilization out of sub-human ...

OK does Dorothy have free will? No, she is a slave to Toto. Actually, in a mythic sense, Toto is the animal power that leads her on her adventure. She achieves free will when she decides to look at the wizard behind the curtain, and not at all the scary smoke and the image of the terrifying w...

OK which of the the three, the lion scarecrow or tinman have free will? Not a single one of them. They are just passive participants waiting for Dorthy to save them. Or waiting for her to tell them where to go. How many people in real life are just like them? I know a lot of scarcrows that catch fi...
