The Motif of the Animal Master

Post by tonyd » Mon May 09, 2011 6:16 pm

Beyond the original entrance porch of the mid 12th century chapel of Rieux-Minervois in the South of France is the first of seven columns that support the central area of the heptagonal church. If we look we see an angel flanked by two lions. A guide giving a tour explained to her party in dramatic fashion how the lions represents evi,l le mal, attacking the virtuous breast of the angel who, however, grabs their legs and pulls them away. However, on inspection the angel appears to be supporing their legs from beneath.

<more>
If we move back in time to circa 8~9th century AD to a depiction of the Kells Market Cross in Ireland we see, on one of the side panels of the vertical section, a horned man flanked by two canine animals. If we look carefully we notice that his arms are holding the two by their tails which come upwards between their legs.. It would be interesting to hear a contempory explanation: it might be some celtic-christianised slant on Cernunnos but equally the horns could be interpreted as denoting some demon or devil.

If we move back several millenia to the earliest period of civilisation we find the Sumerian hero, Gilgamesh flanked by two divine bulls. The bull in this period was linked to the agricultural calendar. At the vernal equinox (time of harvest before the withering heat of the summer) the sun rose in the constellation of Taurus (the divine bull of heaven).

Yet the for original sense of the Animal Master we would have to search deep into the paleolithic. For the present the oldest representation of which would be this cave painting from Chauvet dating back over thirty thousand years. We see the bison animal master painted on a statactite styled in the fashion of the female pubic triangle. The idea would be of the animal master controlling the replenishment of the herds from the womb of the earth to replace those lost to hunters. It is possible to make such guesses based on the fact that this hunting culture diffused across Eurasia, across the Bering bridge to America where the very ancient customs associated with the hunt have survived into recent times. For a sample myth, The Buffalo Wife, would be a good starter. For a living example of such a culture, the account by the Reichel-Dolmatoffs in their Amazonian Cosmos, quoted by Joseph Campbell on p347 of his Way of the Seeded Earth part 3, gives a good succinct overview.

For refererence here is also a Mistress of the Animals

Rapture and Second Coming of Jesus

Post by Bhagavan Das » Fri Dec 09, 2011 10:24 am

Rapture and Second Coming of Jesus
(chtr. in progress)
Second coming of Jesus metaphorically, light from within and from without will win over darkness
Massage of Rapture – bluntly hold onto faith , darkness is coming see you on the other side
Left Behind – 65 million , taping into collective mind
Rapture in a sense is , spiritual and Biblical recognition of magnitude of a treath that is coming from instinctual as a potential ultimate source of destruction

Church of Latter Day Saints believe that Jesus lived in America

“is the antichrist alive today” – lecture Ed Hindson
- The beast – revelation 13:1
- The man of destruction, man of sin
- Lawless one
- The abomination
- Little horn
- Insolent king – Satan has put in his heart what he needs to control whole world
- Dispaisable person – deceiver that tricks the world

Antichrist:
The lie
Lawless one
Man of sin
Son of Satan
Exalted himself
The beast

Existentialism – post apocalyptic thought and understanding , pre WWII was Nietzsche’s moral meltdown, Nihilism, post war thought shaped by anti-fascists Camus as a antifascist war journalist, Camus , “postwar moral beacon “ as he was called, Sartre as a prisoner of Nazis, Picasso as a antifascist/ communist. Dostoyevsky by one who was taken in front of execution squad by Car that is soon to be overthrown and killed.

Antichrist is anti- Jesus, anti- light, anti-morals, anti- humanity, anti – reason . “Antichrists there are many and there is The Antichrist” – Ed Hindson

Hitler being one of a Antichrists declared so by Vatican also, OSS prediction of his suicide, as it is instinctual behavior, instinctual behavior is self-destructive and suicidal pattern from where it was possible to derive that suicide prediction psychoanalytically. Instincts are animalistic, beastial source of decision making that since ones one is ruled by his instinctual he is slave to his instinctual needs and subconscious, conscious is diminished and however unpredictable it might seem ones identified as instinctual driven individual his psychometric behavioral patterned becomes obvious, “passions slaves to a reason” vs “reason slave to a passion” argument., that can be rephrased as “ instinctual under control of consciousness” vs “ consciousness enslaved by a instincts “ that leads to los of self control and madness in individual and collective mind , in collective it is a world war. What diminishes morals there for consciousness is that dependency and addiction to instinctual. Consciousness directly depending on morals , ones consciousness as individual or a group can be measured my his/its ethics. There is no ethical relativism because it is lack of and absence of consciousness.
“freedom is consciousness , consciousness is freedom“ – Sartre

Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.

Challenging the meaning of life is the truest expression of the state of being human.

Each man is questioned by life; and he can only answer to life by answering for his own life; to life he can only respond by being responsible.

Ever more people today have the means to live, but no meaning to live for.
Viktor E. Frankl

Everyone has his own specific vocation or mission in life; everyone must carry out a concrete assignment that demands fulfillment. Therein he cannot be replaced, nor can his life be repeated, thus, everyone's task is unique as his specific opportunity to implement it.
Viktor E. Frankl

Everything can be taken from a man or a woman but one thing: the last of human freedoms to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way.
Viktor E. Frankl

Fear may come true that which one is afraid of.
Viktor E. Frankl

For the meaning of life differs from man to man, from day to day and from hour to hour. What matters, therefore, is not the meaning of life in general but rather the specific meaning of a person's life at a given moment.
Viktor E. Frankl
